Essay:(Discipline)
Discipline means acting is an orderly manner in strict
obedience to some rules. When we watch a machine working, we admire the
regularity and precision with which it moves. Our world too is a big machine.
The sun, the moon and the stars move in the sky with unfailing regularity. The
change of seasons, the rain, the mist and snow,
all obey the nature, as fixed by
the Creator. There is a perfect beauty and order in God’s creation. There is
complete discipline in nature. So discipline is essential in the individual as
well as in nature. So discipline is essential in the individual as well as in
the collective life of society.
The inner self of a man should be disciplined above
everything our thoughts and feelings Should be trained to perform their
function in a methodical manner. We should regulate our desires and impulses as
they are great enemies to our moral nature, We must learn to control the
temptations of our flesh, and pride. Self-discipline implies that we follow the
dictates of our conscience and not of our evil self. When a man has truly
discipline himself in his individual life, it is very for him to learn
discipline in the collective life.
Discipline is necessary in every walk of life. Domestic life
loses its comfort and charms if it is not guided by a well-ordered plan If all
the members of the family follow their individual whims without acknowledging
the superior direction of the head, the house in which they live ceases to be a
home. Father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters may live in a
house, and yet they may not feel quite
at home unless they observe discipline. So discipline in domestic life means
love, harmony and peace among all members of the family. It demands subordination
of individuals to the common interest of others.
In the art of government too it is discipline that forms the
foundation of good rule as without discipline the whole structure will topple
down. The greater the discipline the better the form of government it might be
monarchy or democracy-it does not matter, but the important thing that imparts
strength and stability to a country is the spirit of discipline.
Discipline is absolutely necessary organizations as well. No
business can thrive unless all its partners go by the laws framed for its
guidance and all its employers are actuated by a sense of discipline.
Discipline is the very soul of every military organization. An army without
discipline is but an unruly mob. A class-room becomes a pandemonium if the
student show no discipline. In public offices, hospitals, mills and factories,
the very first condition of success is discipline. Discipline saves time
and energy and work is done in a much less time by disciplined men.
